(Matthew 27: 55-66)

And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:  Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.  When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:  He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.  And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,  And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.  And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.  Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,  Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.  Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.  So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

After Jesus died, several things took place around his grave. A man named Joseph buried the body of the Lord. The high priest and the Pharisees who crucified the Lord went to Pilate and were permitted to keep Jesus' tomb, sealing it on the stone that blocked the tomb, and keeping the tomb as a watchman.

With regard to Jesus' death, we cannot but think of a man named Joseph of Arimathea. He was said to be a disciple of Jesus. He said he was an honorable public member. A public member is a member of the San Hyedrin Council, Israel's highest court and religious decision-making body. After Jesus was sentenced to death here, Jesus stood at Pilate's judgment seat. This institution was the place where Israel's most precious people, high priests, scribes, and elders of the people gathered to deal with the immediate events of the Jews, and the members were deserved to be honored as Israel's noble and grown-up people.

The Bible says that he was not involved in their determination to kill Jesus (Luke 23: 50-51). When they caught Jesus and judged him at the council, they decided by majority by convention. But they could never achieve unanimous resolution. Because this man, Joseph, evidently voted against. (Matthew 10: 32-33).

The Bible says in Mark 15:43 that Joseph was a man waiting for the kingdom of God. The Bible said that Joseph was a good and righteous man (Luke 23:50). The Pharisees and public members were jealousy, caterers, and proficient in false witness. What they found when they tried to judge Jesus was false witnesses, who tried to condemn Jesus with miscellaneous false evidence. But this man named Joseph was a good and righteous man. He was a public member living a good and righteous life. Therefore, he could never participate in the killing of Jesus with their group.

Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. Jesus 'disciples couldn't even figure out where they were hiding in fear of being caught by the rulers, and Joseph's fearless visit to Pilate and demanding of Jesus' body was a sign of his desperate determination. Peter pledged and vowed to die for the Lord, but denied Jesus three times when danger came to him. However, Joseph did not usually reveal himself as a disciple, but he appeared in the crisis and showed his boldness to ask for Jesus' body.

There was a group of people who cried and cried. When darkness fell for three hours, many people were throbbing and grieving. It was noon in the daytime that darkness was laid upon the world. This darkness was covered not only by Golgotha Hills, but also by all hills and valleys. The whole world is darkened by darkness. The mouths of the mockery of the Lord were shut. The hands of the Roman soldiers who drew the lot were dropped. The crowds who waved their heads and insulted the Lord were also stunned. They became frightened of this sudden incident and made them look back at their irrational behavior. The Bible said, "They went back to their hearts."

Later, the centurion and his men, Roman soldiers, also withdrew. When the centurion saw all that had been done, he glorified God and said, This man was indeed a righteous man, while keeping Jesus' death to the end, and withdrew from Golgotha with his men.

Only Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were in the presence of the Lord's tomb to the end. Now the sun tilted west and the twilight began to set. However, the Lord's body still stands on the Golgotha hill on the cross. There were people who could not leave this body intact. They were a few women who came out of Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. Some unfortunate time has passed. At this time, Joseph of Arimathea appeared. These women watched all of Joseph's work from a distance. In Luke 23:55, And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. It is not easy to be with Jesus' death. There are many people who follow well at first and leave soon.

The high priests and Pharisees now confirmed that Jesus was completely dead. And they also confirmed that the body was buried in the grave by someone. However, they had one concern. The worry was that Jesus said that Jesus would live again three days after he died normally. Of course, they didn't believe it. Their anxiety is that after his disciples ruin the body, if they prophesy that Jesus was resurrected, would it be noisy? After discussing with each other, they decided to go to Pilate and suggest to protect the tomb. "They went to the tomb with the guard, sealed the stone, and kept the grave firm."
