Matthew 9: 35-38
preaching the gospel of
the kingdom
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was
moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad,
as sheep having no shepherd. Then
saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers
are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth
labourers into his harvest. (Matthew 9: 35-38)
What Jesus did was teach, preach the gospel, and heal. By teaching and healing
people, Jesus preached the gospel of Heaven to them. He said, "when he saw
the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them." In Jesus' eyes,
people seemed to be infinitely pitiful, suffering as sheep without a shepherd.
Then Jesus asked his disciples, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send
forth labors into his harvest."
Jesus is
asking people for the heart of a pitiful shepherd. It is a heart to find a lost
sheep. It is because humans do not know Heaven. Today, however, many churches
say "God is love" first, so that they miss the opportunity to repent.
Millions of people preach, mission, and preach the word, but how many people
can properly preach the kingdom of God today? Almost everyone says, “If you believe in Jesus, you will go to heaven.” Few people talk about the kingdom of God.
After Jesus
was baptized, Jesus said in Mark 1:15, "And saying, The time is fulfilled,
and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." The
kingdom of God and the repentance of sinners are connected. So the gospel is
the key to explaining the kingdom of God. The Gospel is not "trust
Jesus," but "repent and return."
And, Jesus
said to all people, "Be born again, and obtain the kingdom of God on this
earth." The gospel becomes the kingdom of God on earth. Of course, the
saint will live in this world and die and go to the kingdom of God, but it is
God's will to expand the kingdom of God on this earth. The kingdom of God is
increasing in saints.
Paul explains
well in Romans 1-3 about who is under God's wrath. So, the word repentance is
mentioned, and there is no word after that. In 1 Corinthians, the word
repentance appears three times. The rest of Paul's epistles did not say
repentance. Instead, the words ransom and forgiveness of sins come out.
However, the words of repentance are often mentioned in Matthew, Mark, and
Luke. However, the word repentance does not appear in the Gospel of John. This
is because it depends on who is listening to the gospel. In the Gospel of John,
the word truth appears instead of repentance. The same is not true of Matthew,
Mark, and Luke. This is because the Bible is not intentionally written by
humans, but is inspired by God.
The Gospel of
John is mainly composed of writings explaining to "repented and
regenerated." It would be misunderstood to explain to the first person who
came to the Church the Gospel of John that gave power to the regenerated Saints
who were persecuted under Roman rule. Because he believes in Jesus and is saved
and born again, without knowing the meaning of repentance. Therefore, the
beginning of the Gospel can only be realized by reading the Gospel of Matthew.
The beginning of the Gospel of Matthew, after the genealogy was introduced,
said in 3: 2, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." John
the Baptist did not say, "Repent, Christ is born."
