Matthew 5: 38-42
(Matthew 5: 38-42)
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an
eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but
whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And
if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy
cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with
him twain. Give to him
that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
There was something called 『Equity
Compensation Act』. This is also referred to as the 『Equity Retaliation Act』. However, the
"Equity Reward Act" does not mean retaliation, but means that the
accused "reward the same level" to the victim.『 An eye for an
eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but
whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also 』
The Bible said, "Repay the eyes for the eyes, and
the teeth for the teeth." It hurts other people's teeth, and as much as it
hurts, it is to compensate. However, reality is the opposite. In verse 39 and
below, Jesus told us how to act when we are victimized.『but
whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And
if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy
cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with
him twain. Give to him
that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away』 Therefore, when the damage is done to others,
compensate as much, It means to forgive when you are harmed by others.
